The Christian life is marked by inherent tension. Grace and truth. Mercy and justice. Faith and works. Divine providence and human responsibility. These aren’t dichotomies to solve. They are tensions to hold. When you attempt to do the former, you miss the beauty and growth that comes with the latter.
The problem with that kind of thinking is that it’s messy. It obliterates our predetermined categories. It forces us to wrestle with tough questions. It requires moment-by-moment reliance on the Holy Spirit to guide and empower us as we navigate life. Instead of trying so hard to resolve the tension, let’s learn to embrace it.
