There are two kinds of churches: those that create and those that borrow. Example: some churches take the time and effort to discover how to uniquely minister to the people God has brought to them while others simply borrow whatever looks good from other churches. I’m not talking about borrowing best practices or principles. I’m talking about failing to contextualize to your unique ministry environment by letting others do all the hard work for you.
If every new ministry idea is imported from someone else’s church, you probably just discovered the answer to why nothing ever works at your church. There is a reason we need a variety of churches. So be a church that creates. Even if it’s not as cool or slick as what everyone else is doing, at least you are being true to who God created you to be.
