Wanting vs. Doing

Losing weight. Eating healthier. Spending more time in prayer. Growing closer to our spouse. Deepening our relationships with others. These are common and worthwhile goals that many people have. We know these areas matter and we genuinely want to see change in our lives.

I’ve noticed something about myself. Although I want many of these things, I’m not willing to do what it takes to get them. At least that’s been my story so far. That’s why they haven’t happened. Change is hard. It’s uncomfortable. And most of us are not willing to do whatever it takes to see change happen. We mean well. But wanting does not equal doing.
