Community amongst believers is an essential part of the maturity process. It is impossible to practice the one another commands of Scripture apart from involvement in the lives of others. So why is meaningful community hard to find in churches?
There is obvious difficulty in bringing sinners together. American Christians do not prioritize community in their schedules either. But it goes beyond that. Community is not something that can be manufactured. It has to naturally happen. There is no magic formula nor is there one variable that detemines whether or not it will happen. In many ways, community is a gift from God – one that cannot be programmed into existence.
