Technology and Faith

Technology is amazing. The ability to connect with others and share information is now at levels few could have imagined. Like every new cultural wave, it’s imperative that Christians think critically and biblically about their use of technology.

Being able to watch a sermon or church service online when you are sick or out of town is wonderful. Replacing regular, physical involvement in a local church by attending “church online” is antithetical to the New Testament commands to gather together. Knowing what is happening in people’s lives through social media can be a great conversation starter. Interacting with people only through social media is not a way to fully or faithfully practice the one anothers. Technology is wonderful. But when used indiscriminately, it can become a hindrance to practicing our faith. We must be wise in our use of this resource.
